  1. Hello,
MT4 Market data connection could be a bit slow in comparison to FIX/API market data connector.
Is it possible use your product with a FIX/API Market Data connector?

    Thank you

  2. Hi, I’m still trying to get in touch with someone about working together. I’d like to work with you on a performance basis, with a CPA or IB structure for any retail client referrals from your site. In case you don’t know who we are – BlackBull Markets is an award-winning NZ based broker, founded 6 years ago. Feel free to have a look on our website blackbullmarkets.com to find out more, sign up for our affiliate program at blackbullaffiliates.com or send me an email to discuss anything further.

  3. Totally unsure how to use the software, don’t even know how to add indicators to the chart to backtest and try strategies. I have no clue why you wouldn’t make the software to act and look more similar to MT4 (Since that’s that most used/best trading platform). Read through the instructions and still have no clue how to add EMA to the chart. The program shouldn’t be this confusing

    1. We are sorry for the confusion. If you are looking for the MT4 analogs, our software is not one. Since we don’t use indicators (but our own real-time PPA signals instead), we don’t have an option to add arbitrary indicators on the chart the way you do in MT4. We use our MT4 connector as a proxy for trading, it gets ticks from MT4 and sends the trading commands to MT4. We might add fetching indicators from M4 over the connector in the future releases if there will be demand for that.
Note that you can always add any indicator from a source code in the inbuilt C++ environment.
To add the EMA/SMA on the chart, just right-click and select Indicators->EMA. On the Settings tab you can select the EMA period.

  4. I have the free smart Forex tester, the problem I have this that only few things work,
there is no I can see to up load data to this program. Or like the ex Data down load does not load to the tester… and the tester will not turn on so can use it. The only thing you can do start the program and set TP and SL other that you can do anything with… The buy and sell GUI don’t work from what can see, and the other GUI don’t work as well they are gray and if click on them they don’t do anything… And go to the help tab and trying read it it not user friendly at all it give a lot information but trying to find what you need you have to go from section to another and hope you can find the answer… But thanks for letting me try your program… It just not for me….

    1. Hello Jeffrey,

      Thanks for your feedback!

The functionality supported by the free software is divided between 3 products: Online Simulator, Offline Simulator and Strategy Tester. Only one free product can be active at a time, and this is the reason for the greyed out controls.

What is your use case? We suggest you try switching between free licenses on the Products tab.

With the help, we agree that it can be better, but we suggest you read the very beginning where we give the big picture how the products work. Also, it will be useful to download the pdf version here: https://www.smartforextester.com/users-guide/ and use the search.

Also you might find our FAQ helpful: https://www.forexstrategytester.com/free-forex-simulator-strategy-tester-faq/

Any questions, just contact us – we’ll be glad to help.

  5. 1)Is your program a 32bit or 64bit program
    2) Nowhere is there a link to contact you like a telephone number. Are you hiding?
    3) Is the back testing in your program based on the back tester of MT4? In other words is your Back tester the MT4 Back tester and your program is just a nice front?
Looking forward to your reply before I consider your program further

    1. Hello Isaac,

Thanks for your feedback. Here are the answers.

      1. Our software is 32 bit.

      2. we are not hiding. But we don’t have enough resources to provide phone support. Our email contact is on all our sites. We normally respond within 1 day.

      3. our program is ABSOLUTELY NOT based on the back tester of MT4! Moreover, the whole point of starting our own development was to get rid of the dependency on the MT4 tester, when we found out that the latter interpolates the ticks from the M1 bars. Which made the test data artificially “smooth”, so the test results differed with the real market data.

  6. Hello!, I finally downloaded the software but I’m stuck now and don’t know how to proceed, did I read the manual? no, can’t say I did, but that is not my problem, my problem is that I know nothing about c++ or other programing languages, and when I come to the tester section it just becomes too difficult for me, so I kind of give up right there, my question is, how can I continue from here? do you provide coding services? or is there someone that can help code my ideas? thank you

    1. Hello Christer, unfortunately, there is no way around it. If you want your own strategy, you either need to code it yourself or have it coded for you. We started from coding an EA. Then, in the 1st version of our own tester software we tried state machines in an attempt to avoid coding. However, in our latest software we decided to use semi-automated strategies. Smart Forex Tester Suite provides ready sample strategy that uses our pivot points detection algorithm to nail the market tops and bottoms. It can be uses as a building block for any strategy.

  7. HI

I get the following error if I want to load an mq4 EA.

/ tmp.cpp:43:1: warning: trigraph ??/ ignored, use -trigraphs to enable [-Wtrigraphs]
    tmp.cpp:43:1: error: expected unqualified-id before ‘?’ token
… Cannot be loaded: Cannot load library C:\Users\IT\AppData\Local\Dynamics_Software\mingw\bin\tmp.dll: Das angegebene Modul wurde nicht gefunden.

    What can I do?

    Thanks for your help.

    1. Hello Peter,

Thanks for your feedback. Smart Forex Tester supports C++ and MQ4 is to a great extent compatible to C++.

So the two languages are not the same and you may need to make some changes in the parts that won’t compile. Which requires some C++ skills.

Based on your error message, we are unable to provide the definitive answer. If you send us the source code that doesn’t compile, we can advise.

  8. I think the forex strategy tester is programmer-friendly only. No chance for people with zero coding skills like me. I have source file for MT4 but I cannot convert it to C++. Thanks for letting me try the program.

    1. Hello Geric,
      Thanks much for your feedback.
Yes to use the Tester you need to have some basic programming skills.
What was the problem with MT4 code conversion? Please leave your comment here and we will help.
